It was stated that the sum of £10 had been recoived from the Stratford lied Cross Branch, and £10 from tho Kelburn Ladies' Presbyterian Guild. This amount of £20 in all, with £50 .from-tho Wellington Women's Committee,'is to be set aside for tho purr cha.se of meat oxtraot for forwarding to England for tho men in hospitals, Another sum of £50 was voted. by the cominitteo to purchase therewith tho regulation ward suits for the men in hospitals. It was pointed out at the meeting that this proposed body would nee ths\t all the needs of tho Ne\; r Zealand men in tliq hospitals wero thoroughly well met, and sifter that tho surplus of goods 'would be sent ttf tho British Red Cross. In this way the Home authorities would be saved a .considerable amount of expense, as tho needs of the Now Zcalanders would' no longer have to )>o met by then), as they nre to ft cer? tain extent at tho present time. During tho month of August it was reported that there had been sent away from tho depot 9450 garments _ and 22,905 bandages and surgical dressings.
