BRITISH RAILWAYMEN'S DEMANDS
CONFERENCE IN SESSION. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. London, Septembor 13. Tho first railway conference to deal with the men's demands for a 10s. increase assembled to-day and will _con-' tinue to-morrow. Tho general opinion is that a strike is -unlikely. Possibly the men will bo offered and will accept ss, as a permanent increase. The disturbing South Welsh element, which demanded 15s.' and threatened to strike on Sunday, has now fallen into line with tho other railwaymen. DOCKERS' CLAIM REFUSED. London, September 13. The Chief Industrial Commissioner (Sir George Askwith) has refused tho Clyde dockers' claim for 2d. hourly as a. war bovus.
