MASTERTON NOTES
At the annual' meeting of tho Mauricovillo Defence Rifle Club,' Mr. D. H. Rutherford was elected president. It was decided that the season open on September 16, and tho trophy competitions begin on tho first Saturday- in tho new year. A vigorous effort is to be made by the North Wairarapa Sub-cominitteo of tho Wellington Acclimatisation Society to put a stop to tho poaching of trout from local streams. This is reported to hai'o been very common in recent years. During tho past month a sum of £1936 15s. has been recoived by the Wairarapa' Hospital and Charitable Aid Board in levies from'local bodies.
The Wairarapa- Patriotic Association has decided to continue its contribution of £200 per month towards the Belgian Belief Fundi
