A SATISFYING INCREASE
COMPARATIVE STATEMENT
Tho Hon. Arthur 31. Myers, ActingMinister of Finance, has furnished the following figures for publication, which show tho rcvenuo and expenditure for tho fivo months ended August 31, 1916, compared with.tho corresponding period of last year, also the revenue for the year ended August 31, 1916, compared with the year ended August 31, 191».
In submitting the statement of rcvenuo and expenditure for tho five months ended August 31, 1916, Mr. Myers draws attention to tho satisfactory condition of affairs disclosed, the revenue having increased to the extent of nearly £700,000, whilst tho expenditure has increased a matter of only a littlo over £160,000,- more than half of which is on account of interest and sinking fund.
"The revenue figures for tho vear ended August 31, 1916," said Mr. Myers, "aro also very interesting, and disclose a remarkably satisfactory position, the increase over last year being well over £2,600,000."
