ANOTHER GOLD STEAL FROM BELGIUM
GERMAN'S SEIZE THIRTY MILLIONS. Australian-New Zealand Oablo Association. ' Amsterdam, September 11. Germany has seized thirty millions sterling from the coffers of the Belgian : National Bank. Sho ofFors to pay 5 per cent, interest, and repay the money two years after the close of the war. MORE ABOUT THE i "STEAL." (Rcc. September 13, 0.15 a.m.) Amsterdam, September 12. The. thirty million sterling which General Von Bissing, the Gorman Gov-ernor-General of Belgium, has confiscated represents the amount which was put into circulation in 3elgium in consequenco of the lifting of the moratorium. Von Bissing decided upon this action six months ago, apparently with the express purpose of annexing the proceeds for war purposes. It is noteworthy that this act of brigandage coincides with the unsuccossnil issue of the German war loan in Berlin. Two directors of the National Bank of Belfium who refused to sanction the robery wero deported to Germany.
