MOMENTOUS BATTLE ON TEE RUSSIAN FRONT
GERMAN ARMY IN GRAVE PERIL ~ : BRITISH ADVANCE IN THE BALKANS SEVERAL POSITIONS SEIZED , GREEK CABINET RESIGNS ■ i t —.. \ ■ l The absence of any definite news—which lias been expected daily —of recent major developments on tho Russian front in the region of Halicz has given ground for interesting speculations by military experts. l The consensus of opinion points to a situation instinct with tremendous happenings and a crowning (tenouement. The Germans' resistance at Halicz is weakening, their army is in grave peril, and the fall of this position, will remove from the path of tho Russians- : the last obstacle but one to the retaking of Lemberg. Meanwhile steady pressure is being applied to the Austrians on tho RussoRiimanian front, inhere the enemy has had to admit a retirement. Tho rccent success of the Bulgar-German forces at Turtukai is not taken seriously, and tho Russians are confidently expected to counter tho situation when tho moment arrives for the stroke. Tho Greek situation has taken a new turn in the resignation of tho Premier ' and his Cabinet. AU the Allies' demands havo been accepted. If Greece comes in on our side she will he equipped for warfare, but no terms or conditions as to the price of intervention will be permitted by the . Allies. Thero is a comparative lull in the West, and there are no developments of importance on tho Italian front.
