SHEARERS' DEMANDS
A sitting of the Conciliation Council is to be held at Mastorton on Wednesday, when tho demands of the shearers for ah alteration of their award and an increase in pay will be considered. A largely-attended meeting of farmers was held in Masterton on Saturday, when the position was discussed at somo • length. ' The following were noniinated to act as assessors at the sitting of tho Conciliation Council :—Messrs.; Thomas Moss (Eketa--huna), A. D. M'Leod (Maryborough), and Hugh Morison (Greytowu). It is understood that the owners' are prepared to concede a war bonus, but object to the award rates being increased.
