Lily Jane Sunkell, the nineteen-year-old daughter of a well-known Waiau farmer, was killed to-day. A horse she was riding bolted, and she was thrown, her head striking a telegraph pole. Tho. wheel of a bicycle running .- the groove of a tramway rail was the causo of a young man named Manderson, a shunter at the Thorudon Bailway Station, being admitted to the Hospital last night, suffering from bad cuts on the head and the left shonlder. He was last seen about August 22. A brother of the deceased resides at Helcusvillo. Tho body of a man named John Mullins was found in a pool of Water alongside, the railway line near Bunnythorpe yesterday morning. It is thouglrt that he had been lying dead about three weeks. Robert Ewart, carrier, of Simmon, died at the Palmerston Hospital at 6 o'clock on Sunday night as tho result of injuries received through a cart passing over bim at Shannon on Saturday. It appears that deceased was opening a pate when his horse became restive. Ho tried to stop it, and fell under the wheels. It is understood that Mr. Ewart was a married man with four children.
