MAITAI FROM 'FRISCO. From San Francisco, via the usual Pacific Islands calls, the B.JLS. Maita.i arrived in Wellington, and berthed at No. 6 Queen's Wharf at, 11 a.m. yesterday morning. Tho Moitai left San Francisco on August 17 at 2.30 p.m., and a calm und uneventful trip enabled her to reach Papeete on August 30. After staying twenty-four hours at Papeete, tho vessel continued her passage, and anchored at Barotunga on September 2. On September at. at 10 a.m., ehe was again under way, and experienced fine weather and smooth seas oil the way to .here. No other vessels were seen on, the voyage. Commander H. E. Williams is in chargeof tho vessel, and with him arc associated tho following officers :-Chicf. Mr. W. Paul; second, Mr. J. W. Murray; third, Mr.-W. Schroder; chief engineer. Mr. K. C. M'Caughey; purser. Mr. Geo. H. Amies; surgeon, Mr. G. A. Keller: radio operator, Mr. L. V. Sutton. Her total cargo for New Zealand and Australia, amounts to 1708 tons. Of this only a very small amount. i> for Sydney. Hot principal- cargo is fruit, which consists of: Bananas. 2216 cases: oranges. 8436 cases; tomatoes, 4Z83 cases. An inquiry solicited «. reply that he did not think the anchors which were lost at, Rorotonga. on ti.i Maitoi'-s last, trip from 'Frisco to Wellington, would ever be recorc*ed. The anchors were lost nii account of squally weather, and tho divers had not been able to locate them.
THE VICT-ORTA. It has now been definitely decided that .(•he Victoria- will leave Auckland on Wednesday, and will arrive here on Saturday, leaving for Dunedin direct the same afternoon, omitting the calL at fjirttclton, in order to pick up her time-tablo. HINBMOA'S MOVEMENTS. Advice was received on Saturday that that the Hincmoa- had dismantled a light at Great Barrier Island on Friday. On account of' the Kauri Timber Company closing up their mill on the island it was not considered necessary to keen the light on as there will be no shipping; now for that particular part. The Kaituna left Hobart for Bluff on Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock. . After visiting the Bluff she will call at Dun-edin'-and T/j'f.felton, and will be here about the end of this week. She has 329 tons for discharge n-t Wellington. The Nea.kuta. left Greymouth with a load of coal for Lyttelton on Saturday.-. Her next trip from Greymouth will bo to Wellington. Tiie Te Annu left Bluff at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and is duo in Wellington on Tuesday. The Chatham Islands Flehins? Company lies received a wireless message to the effect that the Hlmitangl would probably leave Wflitangi (Oh'at.ham Islands) for ljvttelton last evening. .
