John M'Cann,. an _elderly man, well known as a farmer in the Westerfield. district, was thrown from a trap at Ashburton .on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to the Hospital, and died on Saturday night. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Ashburton, September 10. Jeremiah Cochrane, aged 63 s attempted suicide with a razor at Tinwald on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to the Hospital, and is now recovering. FOUND DEAD IN A PLANTATION. Wanganui, Septcniber 9. Two boys found tho body of William Ross, a retired storekeeper, of Castlecliffe, in a- plantation on St. John's Hill, this morning. The deceased had been missing for some days. It is believed that, feeling tired, he sat down in the plantation to rest, and succumbed to heart failure.- There will bo no inquost.
