ROUTE MARCH REVERSED
OVER THE HILL FROM TEEN- . THAM TO FEATHERSTON. The Seventeenth Infantry Reinforcements which have been in camp , at Trentham for the past three weeks, will march from that camp to Featherston about the end of this week. This will mean that the usual process of the big march over the Rimutaka Hill will he reversed. Tho troops will leave Trentham at I.SO p.m., and will march to an outpost position ' at Munt?aroa in preparation for night operations. On Friday, . after concluding tho night operations, tho troops will march to Kaitoke, where they will bivouac, and on Saturday ' they will march from there to Featherston Gamp. Approached from the Wellington side the mountain road presents an easier grade than on the Featherston side. But it is a long, stiff pull, which will test the mettle of the Seventeenths. These troops have been route marching, on tho roads leading from Trentham Camp for some time, past, and they look fit and hard. Lieut.-Coloncl C. R. Macdonald, Chief Infantry Instructor, will be in charge during the march. On Friday the Eighteenth Infantry Reinforcements, who returned from extended leave, yesterday, will be transferred from Featherston to Trentham by special trains. The second batch of the Nineteenth F, G, H, and J Companies to visit Trentham for musketry training will return to Featherston to-morrOw.-
