. : —• FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. Tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), Councillors W. Hildreth, R. A. Wright, T. Bush, M. F. Luckie, W. H. Bennett, L. M'Kenzie, W. J. Thompson, A. R. Atkinson, J, Godher, G. Frost, and W. H. P. Barber were present at a meeting of the. City Council held last evening. Councillor Titos. Bush, who has been resident in Nelson for tho past threo months, was welcomed back to the council by the Mayor, who expressed the hope that his health and that of Mrs. Bush, had benefited by the change. ■On the recommendation of the Finance and Property, Committee, the council decided: "That the contractor for the reseating of the Town Hall be called upon to carry out; his contract' in accordance will the specifications ; that provided the City Solicitor advises that the work can ho legally carried out, some kerbing and channelling be laid in Boston Terrace at air estimated cost of £15; that application be made for tho unconditional exemption of Emmett Street from tho provisions of tho Public Works Act, providing the houses be set, back 5 feot from the street alignment; that in view of the' fact that Paterson Street has never been decided as a street, steps he taken to proclaim the street 'under the Land Act, 1908, as recommended; that suit able crossings be constructed at the intersection of Davis Street and' Thorndon Quay; that outhority be granted to the City Engineer to continue the water supply .from Maarama Crescent to Epuni'Streot whenever he can arrange for tho necessary pipes to bo spared." >
