TRADE UNION CONGRESS
PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS. (Beuter'a Telegram.) London, September 5. The Trades Union Congress is being held at Birmingham. The president, Mr. H. Gosling, welcomed the American, Canadian, French, and Belgian delegates, and in his speech contrasted tho patriotism of the workers with that of the food exploiters. He demanded the creation of a Ministry of Labour, that the old ago pension limit Bhould be reduced to sixty years, and that the pension be increased to 10s. per week. Mr. C. W. Bowerman (Labour M.P. for Deptford), stated that tho authorities have given satisfactory assurances regarding the civil employment of soldiers. , •. ..-.,! Mr. Smillie (for the miners),, insisted that soldiers bo employed should have full civilian rights. A resolution was passed in favour of the appointment of a Labour Minister.
