9 FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTf RDAY. Present indications are Jav unsettled, dtfudy, and squally weather, with rain following generally and heavy . rain in tho West Coast, and southernmost districts of tho South Island. Westerly winds, strong to gale, aro likely to prevail, with a southerly teidency soon in tho south. Barometer fall in the north and unsteady in tho south. The barometer has fallen considerably in 'the south sincie last' evening, and westerly winds havo prevailed, ajid have increased in foroe to-day. Fair weather has continued in v tho northern districts, but cloudy skies have become general southward of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, and rain has fallen in tho southernmost districts' and in tho, high country of tho South Island.
