GALLANT' ATTACK UNDER ■ HEAVY FIRE GEBMAN-BULGAR MOVE - -'' ON RUMANIA RUMANIANS TAILING BACK ' / FIERCE BATTLES ON RUSSIAN ' FRONT .9 The Anzacs -havo achieved fresh. glory for themselves in a gallahfc and completely successful attack, under heavy .fire, 011 Moquet Farm, on the Sommc front, which was held by the very flower of the German Army—the first battalion, of the Prussian Guards. The ' French' have made further important gains north of thp Somme, ■ while ,on the British front stubborn fighting is in progress. Fierce battles are reported from the Russian front, particularly in the direction, of Vladimir Volynslii, while in the Carpathians the Russians have captured a fresh,series of positions, and are now approaching the Hungarian'frontier. Tho Russian advanco in Transylvania is developing steadily, hut on their Bulgarian frontier our' now ally, threatened by a powerful German-Bulgar offensive movement in Dob- ■ r'uja, is falling on the Russian line, which is steadily gathering in strength and lumbers. The German Press attaches considerable importance to_this new offensive, which is commanded by Von Mackeiisen. -Tho situation in Greeco lias much'improved, so far as the relations between the Allies and tho' Greek Government aro ; concerned, but the Macedonian revolution has spread to Crete. A dispatch from one of the British correspondents at Athens shows how necessary ithad become, for the Allies to take drastic measures for . the suppression of German intrigue in Greece. '
