RAILWAY FATALITY
RESULT OP AN ACCIDENT. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, Coroner, held an inquest yesterday afternoon at the Hospital touching the death of Alfred James Barber, who was knocked down and run over ,by a,truek in the shunting yard at the LambtoJi Railway Station on "Friday, and died soon after liis admission to tho Hospital. Barber was employed as a messenger, and had been in tho service of the Railway Department about ten weeks when lie met his death. Mr. P. S. K. Macassey was present on behalf of the Railway Department. Dr. Baxter, house surgeon at tho Hospital, described tho injuries received "by deceased, and expressed tho opinion that death was due to 6hock and hemorrhage. Evidence was also given by several railway servants, who were present on tho occasion, and who described how the accident occurred. Tho driver of tho shunting engine said Barber seemed to he watching tho engine, and apparently did not 600 the trucks that wore slipped on one of the lines. . After hearing the evidence, the Coro.ner roturned a verdict in accordance with tlie medical opinion, and declared that no blame was attachable to anyone. •
