ASjthc conclusion of their training is approaching, these manoeuvres begin to look like tho real thing. Yesterday afternoon, the wliolo draft was skirmishing in mock battle. On both sides of the' railway line, between Silverstream and Trent'ham, long lines of khaki-clad figures worked from cover to cover, firing blank from time to time, as they emerged from the shelter of trees and snrnh and rushed imaginary positions. Tho effect upon some of tho cattle and horses in tho paddocks appeared to bo exhilarating, and many a fast gallop was put up. The Seventeenths have a hardy and useful appearance, and seem to be in tho best of health. After the Nineteenths have flinched their tablo A musketry course, the Seventeenths will begin their advanced musketry.
