JAPANESE DEMANDS FOR SATISFACTION Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rcc. September 5, 1.15 a.m.) Peking, September 4.' As tho outcome of the Chengehatun incident, 'Japan has presented China with four demands, as follow:— (I)'The'dismissal of tho Chinese officers who commanded tho troops. ■ (2) The withdrawal of the; Chinese troops from tho district. (3) Indemnification of the families of tho dead Japanese. (4) Tho granting to Japan of police rights in Inner Mongolia. Tho Chinese officials regard the demands as tantamount to the elimination of Chinese authority in Inner Mongolia. Washington, September 4. Unofficial reports show that a statement has appeared in Chinese newspapers accusing Japan of sending arms and brigands to Inner Mongolia; This is considered a serious charge, and is denied by the Japanese. Other reports state that the Japanese are provoking disorders in various parts of China with a view to causing clashes with tho Japanese, and finding grounds for diplomatic protests and demands. The State officials at' Washington interpret Japan's demands as possibly containing tho elements of a serious disturbance in tho political situation-m tlio Orient.
