SPECIAL NOTICE TO AGENTS AND
THE PEOPLE. The drawing for'the prizes of tho Aiizao Art Union takes place on Friday next. The members of the committee have undertaken to forfeit -£100 out of their own pookels and pay that sum to any charity the: Mayor of Wellington may name if the- date of the drawing is postponed. In order that all ticket holders shall participate in the drawing, shopkeepers and agents selling Anzac Art Union tickets are requested to return nil unsold hooks and butts of sold books to the secretary by registered post not later than this (Saturday) evening. Furthermore, any person, aware of tickets being sold after to-day, or of books ov butts not having been returned, is re. (jucUted to telegraph (collect, i.e., at cost of art union) the information to tho secretary. Tlio sales of tickets by shopkeepers and ageuts stop this evening. However, to give late investors tho last possible chance, orders for tickets will be received by post or telegraph for rt few days after September 2. Money arriving too late will be refunded. ■ Howi ver, the best policy to pursue is tq apply immediately. Apart from Hie goneroua chance provided for every ticket, of winning 250 prizes, valued from .£IOOO down to .ill, the object of the art union is both worthy and necessary, namely to raise funds to build and endow a frw hostel for soldiers/ and sailors. It is hoped that sufficient money will bo raised now to build and endow this hostel, so that it will be l'ree for all time. A full page advertisement relating to this art union appears in this issue.
