GERMAN DESERTER
Sir,—;Muoh has been done to belittle the patriotic work of the Anti-Gernian League in their efforts to protcct the Empiro and our soldiers from German duplicity. But the facts as known now provo them correct. The desertion wae made known to the Govoriiment two months ago, and only on the receipt of a letter to tlie Defence' Minister from tlie i secrotary of the Anti-German League, drawing the Government's; attention- to tho matter, did the Right Hon. Mr. ilassejr two dajra after make tho public acquainted with it; The l&ague is constantly "urging on the Government the necessity of not allowing Germans, naturalised or non-naturai-iscd, to §o with the troops or hold positions m our Defence Forccs. Yet they still allow it to go oil. We do not blame'the floserter; lie is only fighting. for his' country. Tho blame is on the Government for making such things possible.—l am, etc., E. J. MOORE, Secretary W.A.G.L. August 29, 1916.
