HAHMONIC SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING. Tlio annual meeting of tho "Wellington Harmonic Society was held last night. Sir. It. A. Wright, M.l'., presided, and tliere was a good attendanco of members. The annual report and balance-sheet (already published) were adopted. The chairman said that tho state of tho society's affairs was highly satisfactory. ' Tho growth of the society had been steady, and now it stood high in popular favour. He ' was pleased to nnnounco that Their Kxcelleiicics _ tho Governor and the Countess of Liver-' pool had consented to become patron and patroness of tile society. Tho election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. It. I A. Wright, M.P. (re-elected) ;• vice-presidents, the Hon. J. G. AY. Aitken, the Rev. J. 11. White, the Rev. It. H. Hobday, Messrs. H. Allen, F. S. Pope, S. Stockbridge, J. P. Luke, and I. Clark; conductor, Mr. 11. "White; deputy conductor, Mr. Cameron; secretary, Mr. V:' Bennett; treasurer, Mr. AY. Blako, - librarian, Mr. A. Paterson; pianist, Mrs. M. Sicgel; committee, Mrs. Brower. Miss Snelling, and Mr. Evans. An amount of £30 was voted to tho conductor (Mr. White) for his services during last yenr,. and £5 to Mrs. Sicgcl, .pianist for tho society. Mr. It. White, on behalf of tho members, mado a presentation to Mrs. Siegel, and congratulated lier on her rcccnt marriage.
