SERVICE OF INTERCESSION
A united service of intercession was conducted under the auspices of tlio Wellington Ministers' Association at St. John's Church. last evening. The service was largely attended, and the Rev. Dr. Gibb, in his oponing speech, said that the service was primarily to be devoted to intercession, remarks on the condition of affairs with whicli the Church would bo faced when peace was declared, and the passing of a resolution sympathising with the French women and girls who have been deported to Germany. Tho speakers were tho Revs. A. B. Todd, E. Drake, and J. Reed Glassoiu The following resolution was proposed by the Rov. Reed Glasson, and was carried:—"That this meeting of Christians in tho City of Wellington expresses its profound and righteous indignation at tho action of Germany s in deporting innocent women ! and children from Northern Franco' and Belgium; and it further expresses its horror at tho barbaric methods by whicli, and the purposes for which, the deportations have been carried out by a nation professing to be Christian — methods which are repugnant to the whole civilised world." A number of ministers and others took part in the prayers.
