The mine manager of the Waihi KecfsGigantic Consolidation, Ltd., reports' on the progress of work at No. 2 shaft for the past wcek:-"The.. advancement in north drive at 300 feet level is 8 feet, making total measurement from stnrtinepoint m feet. The country being penetrated is of a true andmaite formation, streaked with mineral and flint veins. The reef, though somewhat slightly disturbed appears to be coming together again as the drive advances. We have' very little water to contend with in sliaft, and machinery is working well."

The mine manager reports., under date August 25:- Pending the installation of on air compressor and necessary flttinirs we were obliged to put off'nine men last Saturday, consequently no work has, been done on any of the faces on the Golconda reef Six men are, however,, retained, and work is being confined to the Wynyardton reef, where the prospects are encouraging. '
