FIRE AT WAIUKU
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 28. A fire at. Waiulcu at 4 o'clock this morning totally destroyed the shops of J. Gribble, saddler, and King, stationer; also Walding's boardinghouse,< Bint's bakery, and an empty shop ad ; joining the sliop of Storey, -watchmaker, and a shop belonging to Henare Kaihau. The occupants of Walding's and Bint's bouses escaped', in their night-clothes. Nothing was saved from any of the premises except Storey's'. . The fire also destroyed Farrelly's braiding and office and H. S. Limmer's butcher's shop. Incendiarism is suspected. ■ There were two outbreaks, the first at Gribblo's shop on Sunday morning. This was extinguished in the early stage 6. The second outbreak occurred this morning, and was discovered 6nly when the fire had a- good hold of Gribblo's premises. It is believed that after the first fire rubbish, consisting of straw, etc., which had been removed, was brought back. It was found near Gribble's building.
