NEW ZEALAND WOOL DEFECTS
"BELGIAN EXPERT FOR CLEANING ' PROCESS.. - By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, August 2S. A suggestion for consideration by the Government has been made by-two local ' farmers regarding tho New ■ Zealand '■wool Industry. A great' part of the ■New. Zealand wool is seedy, due to the • presonce of biddybid in the pastures. "JJocently another variety of weed which '"catches lambs made its appearance. The ■jwool being full of weed is affected in "price, on account of the cost of cleaning. The Belgians were formerly the principal purchasers, but since the ..war the demand has decreased. The ><Belgians treated tho seedy wool by 3 -roasting process, destroying the burrs ■-without damaging the .wool. It is sugtested that tho Government should ensavour to secure the services of a expert to come to New Zealand -treat, the wool. . The higher prices' ..obtained for the.wool so treated would imean thousands of pound's to settlers. ,-Mr. Veitch, M.P., is calling the attention of the Government to tie matter.
