SHOOTING OF SKEFFINGTON

Colthurst said he knew nothing about Skefflngton; also ho told Mrs; Skeffington that no information was available, and added: "The sooner, you leave the barracks, the better." The chairman remarked that it appeared that certain men/were shot simultaneously. Mr. Healy disagreed, as ifc was shown in evidence they were, shot separately! • _ _ Roland, an ex-soldicr, gave evidence that he heard three volleys.. After the second he heard someone say: "That man is noj dead." Then he heard another volley. Ryrne, a witness, denied that Coade used an epithet to Colthurst.' The latter was annoyed at the boy smoking, and said: "Stop smoking that damned cigarette." Colthurst said to a, soldier: "Rash them,"_ and Coade was struck on the jaw with a rifb butt. Witness said Coade began to run, and they came a flash and Coade fell.

The officers of tho guard were more guilty than Colthurst, who was a lunatic.
