ISLAND BAY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

• -ANNUAL MEETING.\

The annual business meeting of the above congregation was held in the church on the Parade on' Wednesday evening, the Rev. R. Wood presiding. The report of Session and Committeenoted large attendances' at tho morning service, and-less satisfactory attendances in the evening, owing to the frequent forced absence of the minister and occasional failuro of supply. Tho communion roll showed 60 members, but the effective membership was about 40. The average attendance at communion was 43. Appreciation was expressed of the services of Mr. Hemery, honorary organist. As regards finance the Ordinary accounts a credit balance of £20, after all espouses. The Ladies' Sewing Guild had raised.£loo for a manse, and the new church building fund showed £270 in hand. Some slight assistance had been given. to Homo and Foreign Missions, and tho ladies, with the assists anco of Seatoun, had raised £25 for the orphanage. Tho Sabbath School report showed 100 on tho roll, and an average attendance of 70.' Grateful reference by.speakers on tho.reports was made to the.services of Mr. Bath, the late superintendent of the school, whose work had taken him out of the district, and special words, of praise were spoken with reference to the interest and shown i= by the children from the orphanage in tho services. A parent spoke with appreciation of tho work of the Sunday school superintendent and teachers, and another speaker referred to the hi?h order of the pulpit ministrations. Tho question was raised of diverting the church building fund to the ninnse fund, but the chairman asked that no motion be passed on tho matter, as individual donors could get this done .by an intimation in writing to the committee and the money could not very well be diverted without this.
