CLYDE AND TYNESIDE WORKERS
THE DILUTION OF LABOUR. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rcc. August 23, 9 p.m.) London, August 22. It is officially announced that tho Clyde and Tyno Commission for tlio dilution of labour has been assumed bp tho officers oT the- Ministry of Munitions and tho Admiralty. Dilution of labour haij already been established at 150 of tho largest of the 300 controlled engineering and shipyard establishments on tho Clyde. Fourteen thousand women workers havo been introduced by the Commission, the majority of. them being engaged in general engineering work, excluding shells. Agreements for tho dilution of tho shipbuilding and ship repairing yards on the Clyde and Tyne have been, arranged with all the principal shipyard trades, while the interchangeability of members of different shipyard trades and the introduction of unskilled men and women is proceeding satisfactorily.
