Private William Brown, E Company, Nineteenth Reinforcements, died ,at Trentham Military Hospital at 8.60 a.m. on Tuesday, the certified cause of death being cerebrospinal meningitis.

Advice has been received by Mr. J. M. Johnston, of Palmerston North, that his son, Trooper Ivan B. Johnston, has been wounded iu Egypt. Trooper Johnston left New Zealand with the Eighth Reinforcements. He was educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School, and before enlisting was a farmer at Levin. -

The death occurred suddenly at about 9 o'clock yesterday morning of Trooper C. Fisher, who went away with the Main Body, and was invalided home some 14 months ago, having contracted enteric,iwhich left the'leart weak. Deceased, who was a -chemist's assistant, was 23 years of age. He was at his work until 8.15 o'clock on Monday night. Deceased's parents are well known iu Feilding. A private cablegram states that Mr. .Robert A. Wilson, son of Sir James G. Wilson, who went Home a few months ago to offer his services to the Imperial authorities, has a commission in'tho Garrison Artillery, for which he has been training at Trowbridge, the garrison's headquarters.

News has been received in Christchurch that Lieut, do Courcy Drury, of Merivalo, has been granted a commission in tho Imperial Array. Lieut. Drury was a member of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, and! went away with the Main Force'. He was attached to Major Boattie's E Battery, andis now in Frauco.

Information has been received that Staff-Sergeant F. W.'Mothes, Wellington Mounted Rifles, formerly of Petono, has been admitted to the Walton Hos-. pital, London. In Gallipoli ho was wounded by a rifle bullet, which lodged near his heart, and has not been removed. He became sufficiently well to rosumo duty, and was for some months on tho Record Office Staff in London. Early in July, while taking part in some sports, ho was seized with an attack of hemorrhage, which necessitated his removal to hospital.

Sergeant Gilbert 11. Gardner (killed in action in Egypt) was a son of Mr. Robt. Gardner, of Palmerston North, formerly of Wellington. Deceased was one of three brothers serving -with the forces, the others being Captain Eric Gardner and Lieut. Lindsay Gardner. He was 31 years of ago, and was at one time agent for Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at Mangawcka. Later on he wis engaged) in flaxmilling, and* he; left this business to go away with one of tho earlier reinforcements. V
