Chrlstchurch, August 22. Tho local wheat, market remains unchanged, but the tone is firm. There is very. little offering by growers, and. tho lines- that do come' forward aro smell. Stocks .of wheat in .store are ■ reported to bo very small for the s timo of year, and tho milleTs are not large holders yet. There does not seem, to be a very large quantity still in farmers' hands. Prices are about the same «s Quoted last week, but for Fcarl a.little moTe money would ba given, and prime is worth up to 3s. Id. Oats and chaff are nominally worth £4 10s. per ton. The local demand is very limited, and there is no coastal trade, as Blenheim can still supply the North Island market, ■ the pri<*. quoted being £4 10s. f.o.b. Picton. Tho potato market is a little firmer. £6 10s. is now being offered for this month's delivery, and £7 for September. The southern supplies are reported to be short, and Canterbury has to supply the bulk of tho demand from other provinces. LONDON WOOL SALES. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Tiec. To date 189,000 bales have arrived, of which 98.CC0 have been forwarded direct to the manufacturers, leaving a total of 103,500 bales available for the -sixth series of sales, which' open on September 5.
