Tho bodies of Bridges and four of tho children were battered almost beyond recognition. Tho fiftli child was carried to the bush. The indications were that tho natives first killed Bridges' native wife. The other ' child vitas absent at tho time of tho . tragedy, which is stated to ho the re- J sult of a long period of weak administration in native matters.
