SOARING FOOD PRICES IN BRITAIN

A report on food increases in Great Britain shows that beef increased 61 _ and bacon 41 per cent., tho highest ever recorded; potatoes 91 per cent.; and otlior foodstuffs show similar increases. The "New York World's" London correspondent states that mass meetings were to be held in the large oitics. of England on Sunday to demand Government measures to reduce the prica of foodstuffs. The cost of living is 65 per cent, higher than before tho war. The American Beef Trust and wheat speculators are blamed, but tlio British wheat gamblers and Gcrmau merchants , helped to inflate tho prices.
