NECESSARY IMPROVEMENTS. A meeting of tho Rosencat.h and Oriental Bay Ratepayers' Association was held last evening, ,'l'liero was a largo attendance of members, and an amount if important business was dismissed. 'The question of the City Council con,trading pcrmanont works out of rc- . oimo, was discussed, and it was deeded that tlio association approve of :he. suggestion of the Greater Wclling--.011 Association, but that not moro :han £10,000 bo spent on any one work .vitliout tho consent of tho ratepayers." It was decided to writo to tho City Council regarding the dangerous condition of Grafton Road. The council is to bo asked that tho road be widened lo make it suitable for tho motor-bus service. It was further decided that a letter bo written to the City Council pointing out the dangers of tho road from Point Jerningham to Karaka Bay, and to ask that tho road bo widened in places, if only temporarily, and that the surface be. put in order, to receive the heavy vehicular traffic that passes over it. Tho main streets of the district $re fenced with rough posts and rails, and in cortain streets there are no footpaths. A letter requesting that a moro up-to-date stylo of fencing be erected, and that narrow streets be widened to allow the making of a footpath was instructed to bo sent to the City Council. . Tho bad condition of the road from Hay Street to the last tram stoppingplace before the terminus was the subject of some discussion, and it was decided that tho City Council should be. notified of the 6tato of the road. Tho City Council notified that the association's request for a seat on Lindum Terrace had been granted, md that Rosencath Terrace and Thane Road would receive proper attention.
