:—* SATURDAY'S MATCHES. Selwyn met Oriental on No. 1 ground at Athletic Park, and administered a sound defeat of 23 points to rii",. In the first spell Oriental, although badly beaten in the forwards, tried their utmost to win out with Elicir rear division, but numerous mistakes, especially dropped passes, nullified all their efforts. The spell ended with Selwyn leading by 0 points to nil. The second half proved disastrous to Oriental, as Selwyn mastered them botTi back and forward. The final scores were; Selwyn, 23; Oriental, nil. The scorers for Selwyn were: Dealy (2), Roberts (2), Shearer (2), and Lindsay (1). Roberts converted one try. Mr. R. A. Evensen was the referee. On No. 2 ground Athletic Park, Athletic beat University by 8 points to 5. Athletic may consider themselves extremely lucky to win, as University could muster only thirteen players. The game was a very ragged one, with University, playing tho better football, but' handicapped by the shortage of players. The scorers for - Athletic were: Ivlacauley and Robinson. - Robinson converted his own try. For University, Churchill scored a try, which Russell converted. Mr. 6. H. Per'kinson acted as referee. St. James (second grade) defeated Oriental by 9 points to nil. Mr. B. P. Galvin was tho referee. (Men'tal (fifth grade) beat St. James by 13 points to"nil. Scots College failed to keep their appointment to play Athletic in the sixth-grade contest.
