HELLAWELL FOUND GUILTY 111 the Supreme Court yesterday, Edward Heliawell, grocer, Courtenay I'laee, stood liis second trial by jury 011 a charge of having received £143 7s. 9d. worth of patent medicines and patent foods, which lio know to have been dishonestly obtained. _ On Thursday a jury had disagreed in his caso, but yesterday's jury, after an hour and a half's retirement, returned a verdict of guilty. Sentence was deferred. Mr. Justice Chapman was on the Bench. Heliawell was defended by Mr. T. M. Wilford, and Mr. V. B. Meredith prosecuted for the Crown. DIVORCE CASES In each of the following cases a decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months:— James Morton Davidson v. Rh'oda R. Davidson and Stewart G. Mason; Simon John Gullery v. Elizabeth Ann Gullery and Cyril F. Renner: William Henry Richards v. Ada G. Richards and William Campbell; Margaret Ellen Ashdown v. Edward G. L. Ashdown. One other divorce case was adjourned and another was not dccided. MAGISTRATE'S COURT Mr. L. G. I'eid, S.M., heard a. long list of by-law • and other cases in the Magistrate's Court' yesterday. C. Francis was lined 55., with costs 75., for riding a motor-cycle without alight. G. A. Waddle, uho was convicted of driving a motor-car vithout a tail-light, was lined 10s., with costs 7s. For leaving a motor standing without a light, Colin Munro was lined os., and ordered to pay costs, 7s. \ James O'Shoa was fined ;js., with costs 75., for leaving a cab unattended. For driving a motor-car without/ a liead-light, Edwin Winters was fined £i, with cost's, 7s. . Harold Brown was fined os., with costs 75., for'leaving a motor-car standing without a light. . As the persons responsible for stock found wandering at large, Henry Mitchell was lined os., with costs vs., and Walter A. Harloy was ordered to pay 7s. costs. Maud O'Connor, a prohibited pereon, was lined 10s. for entering a hotel. For supplying a youth of fifteen with cigarettes, Alfred Ranks was fined £1. Leonard H. J. Cattley was fined 10s., with costs 75., for driving a motorcar without head-lights. Negligent driving of r. motor-oar oost Frank Richard Pierre a line of £1, with costs 7s. Percy Dronlield was fined 10s., in default throe days' imprisonment, for committing an indecent act in Lombard Street. A month's imprisonment was imposed on Harry Thomas, who was deemed to be an idle and disorderly person. 'For-failure to attend drill, Albert Rcnata Davis was convicted and discharged; Lawrence S.
