HOSPITAL BOARD
The _ Wellington Hospital Board met yesterday. Mr. H. Baldwin presided. Tlio Otaki statistics for the. month were reported thus: —Otaki Hospital: 14 admitted, 11 .discharged, 2 died; under treatment, 7 rfiales and 4 females. Otaki Sanatorium: Two admitted, 5 discharged; under 12 males and 7 fomales.
■'Messrs., Baldwin, Smith, and Castle were deputed to interview the St. John 'Association, with a view j» making ; arrangements for continuing the amTiuiance.. transport.' , . ' During'the month ended August' 9 the Health inspectors reported having investigated the following • infectious diseases (the figures for' 1915 being in parentheses) :—Scarlet fever,. 1916, 19 (55); diphtheria, 1916, 27 (25): enteric fever, 1916, 0 (1); tuberculosis, 1916, T (8)'; • puerperal septicaemia, 1916,' 5 (0); eercbro-sp'inal meningitis, 1916 4 (sj. Totals—l9l6, 62; 1915, 104. The matron, Miss F. K. Payne, was granted further leaye of absence to August 31 on full pay, and thereafter on half-pay. ' It was resolved: "That the resignations of the house surgeons having been hanHc3 in, the acting-niedicnl superintendent and the chairman he empowered to'make the necessary arrangements to replace them."; ,
