The Central Mission Debating Society, Webb Street, wa6 largely attended by both momvers and visitors on Monday, when Mr. Banks read a paper on "Christ and War." Throughout his discourse Mr. Banks strongly advocated the position of the conscientious objector, and although a. large majority of his listeners were against his argument and were enthusiastic in support of the Empire and New Zealand's share in tho war, they nevertheless carried a' unanimous resolution expressing regret that the Government had not 6een its way clear to grant exemption from military service to sincere conscientious objectors.
