Thie.,conference :of the 'Agricultural and Workers' Union which has beeHpsfttmg.in Wellington has concluded.
It was j doci9ed that nominations he i called for two additional organisers. Nominations for. the positions of president, secretary, 'seven delegates to conference, and six organisers for the i 1917-18 season are also to be called, • to close on September 80. Messrs. J. Townsend, A. J. King, ! J?.. M'Rae (shearers), J. Doiuiolly,,. E. : Kennedy, and J. Gooder (Bhed-hdnds) . were appointed by the governing coun- , oil to he assessors in all disputes that | may be filed by the union. Mr. C. Grayudler was appointed agent in all 'disputes. Other officers elected were: .' —Trustees, Messrs. P. J. O'Regan and ) J. G. Bruce; auditor, Mr. Bolton; returning officer, Mr. J. G. Bruce; scrutineers, Messrs. J. Glover and A. Parians. \
It was'decided that steps be taken to obtain an increase in the rates of pay .nndor all.awards in existence at the present time, on account of tie increased cost of living.
Steps aro to be taken' also to. cite fresh cases in Marlborough, and Otago for chaff-cutter employees and ,thresh-ing-mill hands. 1
The next conference will be held in June, 1917.
