The Germans have just added another atrocity to their lengthy list—a brutal air and artillory attack on Reims, in which civilians were killed. The position on the Russian front is pregnant with big events.. The lightning rapidity of Brusiloff's movements and his successful attacks at strategic points have placed the main Austrian army (under General Bothmer) in a precarious position. He is retreating to avoid disaster, but there is still a question whether he can retire with sufficient skill and celerity to accomplish' liis object. On the Isonzo front the Italians are pressing hard upon tho Austrians, and have seized important ' "positions, giving them a valuable tactical advantage. A' report from Athens to a Milan newspaper states that Bulgaria and Turkey have each offered to negotiate for a separate peace, but the Entente Powers have declined to discuss the matter. The exploits of the Anzac horsemen iii Egypt have drawn from Mr. TV. T. Massey (the British - Press'correspondent) on enthusiastic panegyric on their fighting qualities and l initiative.
