KILLED BY A TRAM-CAR
' '■ 0 — TATALITY IN COTJRTENAY PLACE.' At a few. minutes past 3 p.m. yesterday a man, about Go years of age, named Michael Kelly, waß run down by a tramcar in Courtonay Place, and died almost immediately. It appears that tho man walked in front of tho car from tlio direction of His Majesty's Theatre, was'struck violently by tho front of tho car, and fell heavily baclc- . wards, his head striking tho' woodblocks with great force.' Motormah M'Wiiliams, who was in charge of tho car (No. 75), which knocked th© old man down, stated that tho deceased must have walked out from the footpath outsido His Majesty's . Theatre almost at right angles; for ho / did not see him at all until imme- / diately before tho car struck him, and • ' ,Ibis impression was that tho deceased neither saw: nor heard tho car -approaching. M'Wiiliams ( pulled the car up at once, and th^'old man was dragged free of the track. Dr. Giesen on arrival at the scene- of tho accident , at once pronounccd the man dead. The body was removed to tho Morgue to await the inquest. Tho spot whero the fatality, happened was nearly 100 yards from tho Tory Street stopjjing-place, and tho car was travelling citywards at its ordinary pace. '
