Preliminary handicap races in the Royal Life-Saving Society's swimming carnival on Wednesday next wero taken last evening at the Boys' Institute Tepid Swimming Baths. During the evening six Taces were held, the results being a.s follow: —
Schoolboys' rescue race, 33 1-3 yarde. —First heat: C. Dealy, 1; B. Storey, 2. Second heat: >W. Montgomery, 1 • H. MacAndrcw, 2. Third heat: L. Powell, 1; A. Watts, 2. Fourth heat: F. Mumford, 1; C. Ross, 2.
Open medley race, 66 2-3 yards.— First heat: P. D. Owsn, 1; C. Dealy, 2. Second heat: A. Watts, 1; S. Powell, 2. Third heat: W. C. Eton, 1; W. Montgomery, 2. Schoolboys' handicap, 33 1-3 yards.— First heat: E. Thompson. Second heat: A. Card. Third heat: A. Ross. Fourth heat: ,J. Anderson.
Ladies' medley race—First heat: Miss E. Rigg, 1; Miss S. Fear, 2. Second heat: Miss J. Aiken, 1; Miss W. Allen, 2.
