FRESH SUCCESSES IN ALL THEATRES.
BRILLIANT COUP BY THE FRENCH. . \ M BRUSILOFF SMASHING ' THROUGH ITALIANS ATTACKING TOLMINO f— — f TURKS CHASED BY THE ANZACS "n every theatre of the war to-day the Allies.are strongly in the : ascendant. On tho Western frontTne British have scorcd importane local successes, their main advance apparently being stayed, pending the consolidation of the latest French success, tho brilliant attack and capture of Maurepas. Tho Russian armies in tho south- ' era theatre are pressing remorselessly upon the enemy, and Bothmcr's lino is stated to be retiring along tho whole front, tho breaking of tho Strypa line having disorganised tho enemy resistance at important fortified positions, compelling a readjustment of his lines. Bnisiloff's tactics, according to that competent observer, Mr. Stanley Washburn, are giving tho enemy no rest. On the Italian front, the great battle of. tho Isonzo is raging with terrific violence. Fresh positions have been captured, and th o attack on; Tolmino has begun. In tho Balkans the Allies, quietly and unostentatiously, are slowly and inexorably pressing the Bulgarians with a heavy and persistentbombardment. The Turkish defeat on the Canal front is complete ' and demoralising. The enemy is in full flight, with the Anzacs in hot pursuit. In East Africa great sweeping operations are in progress, and the enemy's forces are rapidly disintegrating.
