WELLINGTON AMATEURS IN "SAN TOY"
One of tlie most brilliant and melodious of the many worts that marked the musical comedy era was Sidney Jones's "San Toy," a pretty conceit, clothed with that foreign air and tlio bizarre effects in dresses and scenery that were sought for so much in such comedies, iiotably in "The Geisha,"' "Floradora," "The Cingalee," and others. In the case of "San Toy,"-the setting is Chinese, which gives ample scope to the costumier and 6cenic artists, a 'scope that they have availed themselves of to the full. . The connection between the nice English people, the pompous fathers and high-bred girls that" we always like to see in. musical comedy,: is supplied by Sir Bingo Preston, his family and staff, who contrive to make things very . interesting while the teacups pa6s. The cast for "San Toy" is a very good one indeed. Miss .Helen Gard'ner (of Dunedin), whose performances are always so satisfactory, is to bo Sail Toy, Miss Isabel Wilford, Dudley; Miss Annie Sullivan; Poppy; and Miss Annie Saunders, the Hon. Mrs. Streeter; Mr. Alva Shaw will figure as the Chinese Emperor; Mr. W. W. Crawford as Yen How;. Mr. Norman Aitken as Sir Bingo Preston; Mr..'A. W. Newton. as Li; Mr. Herbert Woods as In Hop; Mr. Zante Wood as Sing Hi; and Mr. Chas. Moore as Lieut. Harvey Tucker.
