OIL STEAMER ON FIRE
MANY KILLED AND INJURED

Athens, August 12.
The liner Elefthera (921 tons), from Salonika to Volo, with a cargo of petroleum and 1200 passengers, mostly Greelt demobilised soldiers, caught fire off Skiathos. The boilers exploded. Forty were killed and many injured. The captain succeeded in beaching the vessel.
