FOUR-AND-A-HALF PER CENT WAR LOAN
. i — *—-— Tlio official : announcement , of tlio / £8,000,000 loan to bo raised in New Zealand for war purposes was published yesterday. Attention is drawn, to the prospectus, which occupies a prominent , position in another part gf this issue. The prominent features 7 'of the issue are: (1) The rate of interest which is 4i per, cent, free of income tax. (2) An annual sinking fund is provided for the repayment of the loan. (3) Term of the loan—War Bonds with a currency, of cither U or 25 years. (-1) Tho attractiveness of. tlio loan to Bmall investors—provision having been made for tho issue of \\ ar Loan Certicates in two values, viz., £1 and £10, obtainable at any postal money-order office in New Zealand. On payment of 16s. in cash, a certificate for £1, payable' in Jive years, will be issued, and on payment of £8, a certificate for £10, also dua five years hence. . Tho ■War Loan Certificates are for the small investor. He receives tho same interest as the large! investor, and tho amount payable at the end of live years, includes compound interest at cent, on the purchase price. The certificates ' will bo payable to bearer, and can therefore be sold or transferred freely. (5) Applicants wishing to invest more _. than £50 should apply for War Bonds, which arc issued in .denominations of £50, £100, £500, £1000, or such higher amounts as may bo arranged. Coupons are attached for the collection of interest half-yearly, on March 1 and September 1. (6) Applications for the AVar Bonds close on August 21. Forms of application may be obtained andv lodgments made at any postal money-order office, at. any bank, or at the Treasury, Wellington. Payments on account are due: 25 per cent, deposit to accompany application, 25 per..cent, on October 'I, 1916; 25 per cent, oil December 1, 1916 ; 25. per cent, on February 1, 1917; but the instalments may be prepaid if desired. i ft is anticipated that all classes of the community will respond to the National Government's appeal for funds . to finance tho Dominion's obligations to Empire, and that the loan will not only be fully subscribed, but over-sub-Bcribed.
