This will not be iftcessary with respect to "goods shipped be"Tore the 24th October, 1916, provided thai such goods were ordered prior to tho 24tl 'July,*l9l6. (a.) A license to import from each such . firm must bo obtained ff-oni tht Comptroller of Customs before goods are ordered. (b.) Applications for licenses, giving tht names and addresses of all'such firms, should be promptly submitted to the Comptroller of Customs, stating in fcach case whether similai goods wfere imported from such firms before the war. (c.) Where a Now Zealand importer has got into touch with a new firm subsequent to the outbreak of,, war lie should state how he came'to communicate with that firm, and Should submit any relative papers. Note—Where goods aro bought in foreign countries through'an agent in London or elsewhere, for transmission on o through bill of lading or by direct transhipment, and tho New Zealand merchant does not at present know ithe names of the breign suppliers, it will be necessary that these should be obtaised.
