DANISH OPPOSITION TO THE SALE
Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. Copenhagen, August 9. The opposition ,to the ,sale of tho Danish West Indies is increasing! l It is probable that the Rigsdag will not ratify tho sale.
[A treaty had been negotiated for the purchase by the United States of the Danish West Indies for five million pounds, giving the United States possession of the Islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and Santa Cruz. Tho Danish Foreign Minister ''subsequently announced in the Rigsdag the Government's approval of the sale, and'that as a quid pro quo tho United States had agreed to acknowledge Denmark's bupremaoy in Northern Greenland.]
