The Hinemoa arrived at Wcstport on Tuesday morning from her round of tho southern lighthouses, and left again yesterday morning for Wellington. On tho way up the Hinemoa will call at Farewell Spit and The Brothers, and Bhould arrive at Wellington some time to-day. She will go out in a few days' time for the Cook Strait lighthouses, and subsequently loads for the northern lights. Trffi PALOOXA TO-MORROW. With 800 tons of Australian cargo to discharge, the Paloona is due in from Melbourne, via Bluff, Dunedin, and Lyttelton to-morrow morning. She will soil for Melbourno direct on Saturday evening, PURCHASE OF STEAMERS. - A Press Association cable message from Toltio states that the Kishen Kaisha Company has purchased the Pacific .Mail Steam Ship Company's steamers Korea. (11,276 tons) and Siberia .(11,234 tons). EDGAR P. LUCKENBACH IN PORT. An orrivaVin Wellington yesterday was the new American steamer Edgar P. Luckenbach, from New York, via- Auckland and papier. The vessel caused some little interest among shipping men, and is generally voted to be a very fine ship. After the manner of the other vessels of the Liickenbach Line, the vessel in port burns oil fuel. She is Quito a new vessel, having been built just recently to the order of the Luckenbach. Steamship Company, in the Newport News Shipbuilding Tards, and is «• vessel of the type known as tho "shelter-deck" steamer. Her dimensions are:—Gross tonnage, 8061: net tonnage, 6252; length over all, 145 ft.; breadth (moulded), 57ft.; loaded draught on,summer freeboard, 31ft. B|in. The deadweight is 32,800 t-ons. with a total, measurement- capacity of 675,000.cubic feet. The Edgar F. Luckenbach—the second ship of that line to visit Wellington—brings case oil to New Zealand for the Vacuum Oil Company.. She should leave for the' south iu about week's time. THE DEVON. No word lias yet been received of tho arrival at Melbourne of the F. and 6. liner Devon. A radio message received from the vessel in Australia stated tliat she would arrive at Melbourne on August 5. It is considered, therefore, that slie lias arrived, and she should by this time be cn route to Sydney. LEITRIM COMING TO NEW ZEALAND. Tho local office of the P. and S. Line announced yesterday that the fine new steamer Leitrim, now- in Australia, is shortly coming on to New Zealand. The Leitrim is a new steamer, built to tho order of the Union Company, but on this, the maiden trip, she is sailing under the auspices of the Federal Shire Line. Of 9540 tons register, the Leitrim is'of tho cruiser-stern type, similar to, although considerably larger than, the Devon and Cumberland, that visited New Zealand a short time ago'. Like these vessels also the new ship is driven by four turbines geared to two screw- shafts. Everything' up to date in the way of appliances for the rapid handling of cargo is installed in the vessel, while the refrigerator capacity is very large. Built by Sir Ray Dixon and Co., Ltd., at 'Middlosborough, the Leitrim is of the following dimensions:— Length 491 ft., breadth 60ft„ and depth 39ft. 4iu. . It is expected that the. The American steamer Caoique, which is due at Wellington on August, 26, from San Francisco direct, will come to the agency of the New Zealand and African Company. The Caclquo is fairly well known in Australia, but has not previously -visit-' ed Now Zealand. She has '2200 tons of cargo for local discharge, including a |. large number of American motor cars. After dischargo here the Cacique will proceed. to Sydney and Melbourne.
