The market at Addiugton to-day was a doublet one on account of the Grand National holidays next week. Entries of lat stock were very large. Among the entries were a number of specially prime cattle and sheep, including a number, of prizetakers at leading show 6 in Otago and Southland. Two bullocks, including the champion at the last Otago finmmcr and Winter Shows, were sola on Dehalf of Mr. /birnon Wright, of Balciutha, at the record price of £65 each, the previous record being £48 10s. Fat cattle sold well, and fat lambs made last week's prices. There was a strong demand for pigs. A purebred Tamworth sow, estimated to ' weigh over 6001b., was sold on behalf of Mr. H. Stuart, of Middleton; at the record, price of £20. ' Fat sheep were very firm, and special lots brought high prices. Mr. F. Bull's Shropshire-cross wethers sold up to £14 155., or within ss. of their. record of two years ago. The Otago sheep 6old up to £8 10s.,.and'a Hawke's Bay line up to £3. Store Sheep.—Ewe hoggets, 19s. Id. to 235. 6d.; wether hoggets, 17s. lOd. to 225. Bd.; mixed hoggets, 17s. 3d. to 19s. 10d.; two-tooth ewes, 255. lid. to 38s. 9d.; Bix and eight-tooth ewes, 275. 3d.; soundmouthed ewes, 245. BUENSIDE MARKET. By Telegraph—Press' Association. Ouncdin, Austust 9. There was a biff yarding of iat. cattle at Burnside to-day, 201 being penned. Tlio Quality. was on the whole good. Competition was keen, last week's high prices being fully .maintained. Extra prime heavy bullocks, £25 55.; 'best, £20 to £22 dium to good, £16 to £18 155.; light, £12 to £15; best cows aud heifers, £14 10s. to £17; medium to good, £12 10s.; light and unfinished, £8.
Fat Sheep.—36oo penned. The quality on the whole was the best brought forward for some time. The entry exceeded butchers • requirements, and prices "declined 'about Is. 6d. Export buyers 6ecurod a good many pens. Best wethers, 355. to 375. 6d. ; extra prime, 425..6 d.; medium to good, 295, to 325. 6d.; others, 275.; best owes, 295. to J345.; extra, 405.; medium to good, 21s. to 275.; light and unfinished,'2os. - Lambs.—s72 penned. The quality was only middling. There was a full attendance of export buyers and farmers. Last week's prices were fully maintained. Best. Z4s. to 265.; extra, 385.; medium to good, 21s, M. to 235.; others, 20s. There was a large entry of pigs, and good competition for fats. Prices were about equal to -last :week s rates. Stores were not in such keen demand, and prices declined.
