TB ANAU IN WEATHER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 4. The To Anau, which arrived to-night from the south, encountered a very heavy gale ofi' East Cape. The vessel was hovo t,o for six hours, The passage from Gisborne occupied 56 hours. A small quantity of deck cargo was washed overboard. The Arahura, which arrived after the To Anau, from Gisbome, also had a tempestuous passage. WESTRALLA'S ROUGH PASSAGE. After a run of thirty-two hours from Napier, the Westralia arrived in port shortly after 8 o'clock last evening. The vessel had an exceptionally Bevere buffet-, ing all the way down the coast, 'from Auckland. It was possible only, to land passengers at Gieborne, hut at Napier, although it was attempted, it was found quite impossible to connect , with the shore, and the vessel put out again for Wellington. The chief officer of itho vessel informed a Dominion reporter lasfe ivight that tho run from "Napier waa the roughest he had experienced on. the coist. The seas were mountainous, and heavy driving rain- was continuous. right up till time of arrival. Passengers and ail on board had a most trying time. No damage was done to the ship, although <a huge sea came aboard, and put a test upon the lashings of some tons of dcok cargo aft, which was shifted a few feet. The Westralia is scheduled to leave for Duncdin direct this afternoon. STORM EASES UP. Quite a fleet of coasters should show up . -this morning. After a tempestuous voyajfe the stormbird arrived from Wanganui about midday yesterday The Defender was still at anchor in' Worser Bay last night. THE SYDNEY BOAT. The Mocraki left Sydney for Wellington on Thursday at 3 p.m. Tho vessel has 36 saloon and 29 steerage passengers for Wellington, und will discharge 576 tonsof cargo here. She should arrivo about midday on Monday. THE LYTTELTON PERKY SERYIOE. The altered time-table for the depex-. ture of tho Lytteltton ferry boat en Saturday nights will bo inaugurated tonight. Ths-Mararoa will leave the new Ferry Wharf at 7.45 p.m., instead of li p.m. as has been the case for some years. KAIAPOI FROM NEWCASTLE. Tho Union Company has received advice that tho Kaiapoi left Newcastle on Wednesday night with a full load of coal for Wellington. She should nrrive here about Tuesday night. Her subsequent movements have not been decided upon. MARAROA FOR OVERHAUL. The head office of the Union Company announces that the Mararoa will be withdrawn from tho ferry run at the end of this month, and will go to Dunedin for survey , and overhaul. Her running will be taken up by the Pateena, and the Takapumt will be commissioned to take tho Patcena's Wcllington-Picton-Nelson run, •• . * WAIWEKA AND PAKKRA, • The Waiwera left Auckland yesterday morning for Wellington, and is due to-, morrow. The Pakeha is to leave the northern port to-day, being due in on Monday.. . The Opouri Shipping Company's -vessel Opouri arrived in port last night from Greymouth with a load of timber for Miraraar. She is expected to leave for Lyttelton on Monday, Bound from Greymouth to Napier, the Blackball Coal Company's Ngatoro passed Farewell Spit s,t 7.35 yesterday morning. She passed Wellington Heads shortly after 9 o'clock last night. The Port Elliot is timed to leave for Lyttelton to-day. The Boonah will also clear port to-day for Auckland. It is expected that the Mapourika wiU .arrive from tho West Coast and Neleon this morning. She left Westport for Nelson at 10 a.m. yesterday, . The oil steamer Edgar Luckenbach has been delayed on the East Coasfc, .and is now not expected until Monday. She will leave for the south-the same evening. After a long, rough trip the collier Komata arrived from Wostport shortly after 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She will probably be dispatched for Westport on Tuesday, Tho Waimea and Karamu, from Greymouth, arrived in port last evening after a long trip from tho coast. Up till late last night there was no appearance of tho Karu, some hours overdue from Greymouth. She is expected tD show up thiß morning. It was expected yesterday fhat the Reguluo would come on to Wellington today from Nelson. A telegram rccetfed last evening, liowevor, stated •that, tho vessel left the. former port last night for. Westport and Greymouth.
